06.20.2001: Please Buy The Missing Link For Blacksburg’s Trails

Two citizens have generously given the town a chance to acquire land with access to the national forest. According to The Roanoke Times Opinion page,

BLACKSBURG HAS an offer it shouldn’t refuse: a picturesque, mountainside farm that could tie a new town park to recreation areas and trails in the George Washington and Jefferson national forests. The farm, which cost $260,000, is the missing link that could eventually extend the Huckleberry Trail from Christiansburg’s asphalt malls north to forest trails.The vision and financial commitment for the project have come not from the town but from two citizens eager to open the door…
